Influence of CFRC Insulating Plates on Spark Plasma Sintering Process

چکیده

Spark Plasma Sintering (SPS) is a technology used for fast consolidation of metallic, ceramic, and composite powders. The upscaling this requires reduction in energy consumption homogenization temperature compacts. application Carbon Fiber-Reinforced (CFRC) insulating plates between the sintering setup electrodes frequently considered as measure to attain these goals. However, efficiency such practice remains largely unexplored so far. In present paper, impact CFRC on required power, total energy, distribution was investigated by experiments Finite Element Modeling (FEM). study performed at 1000 °C with graphite dummy mimicking an SPS setup. A rather moderate influence power demand found. Furthermore, cooling stage becomes considerably longer. leads significant axial gradient. comparative analysis experimental modeling results showed good capability FEM method prediction electric current. discrepancy measured calculated voltage This issue must be further investigated, considering AC harmonics DC field.

Application of Spark Plasma Sintering for Manufacturing of Thermoelectric Materials

V-VI thermoelectric compounds like Bi2Te3-based alloys are well known for room temperature applications like Peltier coolers or thermogenerators. Their anisotropic physical properties and mechanical weakness are a problem for the manufacturing. To overcome the mechanical problem Spark Plasma Sintering (SPS) was used. 2 inch Wafers of polycrystalline bismuth telluride based n-type and p-type the...

Spark plasma sintering of ductile ceramic particles: study of LiF

Densification of cuboidal micrometer-sized lithium fluoride particles as ductile ceramic by spark plasma sintering (SPS) was investigated. Specimens were fabricated at different pressures and temperature conditions, ranging from 2 to 100 MPa at 500 C and from 200 to 700 C under 100 MPa of applied pressure, respectively. Dense specimens of 99 % relative density were fabricated by heating to 500 ...

Mechanical Study of Copper Bonded at Low Temperature Using Spark Plasma Sintering Process

Bonding of high purity polished copper was investigated using the Spark Plasma Sintering technique (SPS) showing the effect of SPS parameters (surface roughness, time, temperature and pressure) on the bonding strength behaviour. Mechanical characterization of the bonded samples was performed at room temperature using tensile test. Two surfaces roughnesses were studied (un-polished and polished ...

Full densification of Molybdenum powders using Spark Plasma Sintering

Pure molybdenum powder was sintered using Spark Plasma Sintering under various temperatures, and holding times, under a pressure of 77 MPa and a heating rate at 700°C/min. After sintering, a carbide layer was observed at the surface. The carbide layer thickness, the relative density of the sample as well as the microhardness and the grain size of Mo were measured. The carbide thickness depends ...
